Solution:

Tried on a HTC One X phone. If you are using the azerty keyboard layout and you don't know how to switch back all you have to do is while you are on the keyboard swipe from right to left to change the keyboard layouts untill you get the one you want i.e english layout make sure it says EN.
or click the button instead on the left of the keyboard >>

Also if you ever wonderd why your phone auto-corrects simple words, if the keyboard is on the wrong language, it won't recognise your spelling and it wont even know the simplest of english words.
