There are some extremely exciting cars coming in the next 12 months. Here’s a rundown of what you can look forward to in 2013.

Audi Q2

The German premium brand is planning to introduce a fourth SUV model called the Q2 - its smallest so far. Featuring a sloping roof, this SUV-coupe will have limited luggage space, but will seat four adults. Two and four-door versions are expected to be introduced

Audi RS5 Cabriolet

Audi RS5 Cabriolet

Pretty simple formula for this one – take an RS5 coupe and an A5 Cabriolet, and combine. Whether Quattro GmbH has added enough bracing to stop the 450hp V8 wobbling all over the place remains to be seen, but we bet it sounds awesome, regardless.

Audi RS6

Audi RS6

Audi’s monster estate returns in 2013. The new RS6 Avant ditches the twin-turbo V10 for a twin-turbo V8 – but with 560hp it now sprints 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds. That’s supercar fast, but with room for luggage. Or a wardrobe.

Bentley Continental GTC Speed

Bentley Continental GTC Speed

The Continental GTC Speed is the drop-top version of the GT Speed, and we’re expecting it to appear early in the new year. Power comes courtesy of a 625hp twin-turbo W12 petrol engine, and the car should offer both comfort and extraordinary performance.

BMW 4 Series

BMW 4 Series

That’s right – instead of building a 3 Series coupe this time around, BMW is introducing a 4 Series model name instead. Swoopier looks and even greater driving fun are promised – and a fearsome high performance M4 version is mooted

BMW M6 Gran Coupe

BMW M6 Gran Coupe

The 6 Series Gran Coupe – BMW’s four-door Mercedes CLS rival – has already received a rapturous reception in standard form. Now we know there’s an M version coming. With the 560hp twin-turbo engine from the existing M5 and M6, it’s sure to be sensational.

Ferrari F70 / F150 - the Enzo replacement

Ferrari F70 / F150 - the Enzo replacement

Set to debut in 2013, the Enzo successor will get a mid-mounted 6.3-litre V12 engine with more than 750hp. An extra electric motor, included as part of a hybrid set up, will provide an additional 100hp. The carbon fibre monocoque will weigh only 70kg (being 20% lighter than the Enzo’s) and most of the controls will be placed on the steering wheel saving another 90kg.

Jaguar XFR-S

And if the two-seater F-Type isn’t practical enough for you, there’s always the new XFR-S, which offers all the accommodation of a luxury saloon in combination with a 550hp supercharged V8. A big-middle finger to the BMW M5’s active noise technology is assured

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster

The Lamborghini Aventador Roadster finally broke cover at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but won’t reach customers until 2013. All the excitement of the 700hp V12 coupe – only LOUDER. The roof’s even usable this time as well. Apparently.

McLaren P1

McLaren P1

The design concept for McLaren’s new P1 “ultra” car debuted at Paris 2012, but come Geneva 2013 we should finally get to learn about the underlying engineering. A Formula One style hybrid system and active aerodynamics are anticipated. We’re salivating already.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E-Class

he Mercedes E-Class is getting a refresh for next year – which might not ordinarily be worth a mention, except it’s going to include a stack of cutting edge technology for comfort and safety, branded “intelligent drive”.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe

s class coupe

The next Mercedes S-Class will also be getting a coupe version. This luxury coupe will be the successor to the CL but will have an S-Class badge in the same way that the CLK morphed into the E-Class Coupe. Completely new to the party is the addition of a cabriolet to the S-Class family. The drop-top will be made available in 2014.

Range Rover Sport

Range Rover Sport

This year’s appearance of the all-new, all-aluminium, full-sized Range Rover suggests an all-new, all-aluminium Range Rover Sport can’t be far away. Prototypes have already been spied testing; expect a far sharper on-road drive.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Quite possibly the car we’re most excited about. The current Golf GTI is just such an enormously good all-rounder that the new mk7 version really has got a tough act to follow, let alone beat. It will be stupidly fast, incredibly flattering and unusually economical. No doubt.

Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen XL1

Volkswagen has been toying with the idea of an ultra-efficient car in concept form for quite some time, but 2013 may well be the year we finally see the production version. Expect well over 100mpg and some extremely slippery aerodynamics. The XL1 is coming.
